Busy weekend

After I picked up the girls from the sitter on Friday, we went to visit mom and step-dad and also so I could give my mom a videotape. Step-dad was busy putting up Christmas lights on the house and mom was busy cleaning the house and decorating for her annual ladies-only Christmas party. I thought the party was the next night but was actually going to be that evening. Since she never really told me I was invited, I wasn't planning on going. But she said, "so I guess you're not coming?" And I told her that she never actually extended the invitation. She said, "oh no...since we talked about it last week, that means you're invited." Well, I don't like to assume such things and crash parties.

So I helped mom clean and decorate the house a bit more then the girls and I left. Made a quick stop in Costco to pick up some frozen lasagna for dinner and went home.

Mom's party was to start at 6:30, but I didn't get there until about 7:15. I wore jeans, a Christmas turtleneck, christmas sweater, christmas tree earrings, and christmas socks.

There was a chinese auction gift exchange. I brought a Kitchenaid Pizza Stone/peeler/cutter set which turned out to be one of the two most popular gifts going around. I ended up with a bottle of Carolans and two glasses. Carolans is pretty good with eggnog!

Speaking of eggnog, one of the guests made eggnog with rum. It was pretty good!

I drank enough that my mom didn't want me to drive home. I was going to spend the night, but wasn't really prepared for that so I got a ride home from one of her co-workers.

Saturday, I had a baby shower to attend. Hubby, the girls and I stopped at Toys R Us so I could buy a gift before picking up the truck at mom's that I left the night before. I went to the shower, hubby took the girls to visit his mom.

The shower was for a former co-worker of mine who is married to another co-worker of mine. They got married a couple months before hubby and me. They started trying for a baby a couple years later. They tried for five years with no luck on their own. They finally went to see an infertility specialist. Turns out she was ovulating late and her eggs were immature. So she started taking clomid to help her eggs mature and the docs did an intra-uterine injection where they took the husband's sperm and injected it next to her ovaries. It took two tries before she became pregnant. They're expecting a baby boy February 1st.

Other than getting the girls' picture taken with Santa, Sunday was pretty uneventful. I'll post the pic soon.

We're getting a new range Tuesday. Our current one heats up too hot and there are parts missing anyway. The delivering company is supposed to call us tonight to set up a good time for delivery.

Today, the girls have a community schools class to make gingerbread houses out of graham crackers. C can't wait, it's all she talks about.
